What's new...wellll, let's see.
I was recently asked if I would like to be "room mother" for A&E's daycare class. That's right... I thought that was really nice. I wasn't sure if there would ever come a day when I would be asked to be a room mother. I think it's pretty cool and I take it as a compliment. I love their daycare. I think the teachers and director do a great job. Once more, I am so thankful to have found a great place with a solid curriculum, and kind and affectionate teachers who take a smart, patient and conscientious approach to teaching and guiding A & E through their play day. The responsibilities of being a room mother (sounds like den mom) include being the liaison/pt. person for communications between parents and the school director (notices and reminders from the school and feedback from the parents). In addition the room mother helps coordinate recognition of the teacher's birthdays and planning efforts for holiday celebrations with the other parents. It sounds like a nice way to more families whose children attend A&E's school however, I turned it down.....because while being a room mother sounds like a rewarding experience the timing isn't right for me at the moment. I have some personal goals in addition to my job that I'm working on and I don't think I could give the role of room mother adequate time to enjoy the opportunity or do it justice. I'm bummed but I think it was the right thing to do.
What are these personal goals that I'm going to work on instead...I'm taking a class on Development this fall. "Foundations in Fundraising" I'm soo excited. I've mentioned I want to move into this field and I'm looking forward to taking this class and learning much more about fundraising. In addition, I'm enrolling in "Writing for Children". I'm excited about that, too. I have an idea for a book (a children's book) and that's all I'm going to say for now - full schedule! I'll keep you posted.
and what's new for you?
